Eight Hot Sauces To Try Before You Die

in

A great meal isn't actually great without a little spice, right? If you're like me, your table isnt set until there's a bottle of hot sauce on the middle. But why stick to the same old hot sauce you've been using for years? Sure, we love our classics, but why not spice it up a notch (literally) with something new? That's why I present to you: the ultimate bucket list of hot sauces you need to try before you die.

1. Cholula

CholulaOkay, we're starting out nice and easy with a tried and true classic. Cholula has been around for ages, and chances are you've tried it before. If so, good for you! One down off your bucket list. But if you haven't, quite honestly you're missing out. At only 3,600 scoville units, this is a great hot sauce for "beginners" and has a pretty versatile flavour profile. They have also expanded on their original flavour, with new flavours like chili lime, chili garlic, and chipotle.

2. Heartbeat

Heartbeat

This self-proclaimed "world's most versatile hot sauce" is just that! This is a bright, balanced, slightly sweet sauce fermented in small batches and handcrafted in Thunder Bay, Ontario. It is cooked with a few simple, high quality ingredients and they add no water, thickening agents or chemical preservatives of any kind making this sauce as natural as it gets. On top of all that, this classy looking label looks great beside your meal and is super insta-worthy.

3. Sphincter Shrinker

Sphincter Shrinker

Professor Payne Indeass's Sphincter Shrinker adds an indian flare - and a LOT of heat - to your dish. Be warned - this sauce is pretty darn hot and the pain is a little delayed. First you get a nice burst of flavor and then the heat kicks in. This isn't the kind of sauce you douse your  chicken with. Just a small amount of this while cooking will do - and beware when using the toilet. The name of this sauce isn't a coincidence.

4. Da' Bomb

Da' Bomb

Da' Bomb truly is beyond insanity. This sauce packs a wicked punch that few can handle. You might recognize this one from First We Feast's "Hot Ones" youtube series. If so, you've seen multiple celebrities lose their minds after trying this one. Very few got through this sauce without tearing up. This is more than a sauce - it's an experience!

5. Georgia Peach & Vidalia Onion Hot Sauce

Georgia Peach & Vidalia Onion Hot Sauce

The famous sauce with the red velvet top! This one is a real crowd pleaser. It pairs well with all food groups, but is especially delicious on breakfast foods like eggs. With more than 10 national awards, this one is definitely a must try.

6. Marie Sharp's Green Habanero Sauce

  Marie Sharp's Green Habanero Sauce

This Belizean sauce uses a unique prickly pear habanero blend. With it's slow heat and incredible flavour, this is definitely a stand out sauce. And if you liked this one, give Marie Sharp's Original Habanero Sauce a try!

7. Dave's Insanity

Dave's Insanity

You're in for a ride with this one. Use this one drop at a time unless you have a death wish. Since this stuff is so potent, one bottle will last you a good while. This stuff is great in a chilli, curry, or any dish where you can mix it in. Using it as a dip is just too intense for most.

8. Mad Dog 357

Mad Dog 357

Mad Dog 357 is truly one of the hottest sauces you can find. Made with 6 MILLION scoville pepper extract, this sauce will take you breath away. It is seriously spicy. On the top of the "Hot One's" roster for multiple seasons, this is another one you've probably watched your favourite celebrities tearing up in pain from. No matter how much you like spicy food, this burns differently! If you're not big on burning your face off, mix just a couple of drops into a crockpot of chilli. It actually does add great flavour and spice to a dish when it's not melting your mouth off! Go easy on this one!

See one you haven't tried? Well, what are you waiting for? All these sauces along with hundreds of others are all available on our Wall of Flame!
